~ Collection of Work Experiences ~
ActressI had my first paid acting gig when I was 13 years old. As an avid actress and a confident public speaker, I travelled locally performing in theatre productions, street theatre performances, and in television commercials. After receiving the top award for drama in my graduating year at school and the benefit of having my name forever engraved on a plaque in the school theatre, I left school in pursuit of my acting dreams.
At 18, I scored a part in a live action show production called 'Maverick' after the movie of the same name at Warner Bros. Movieworld. I won the lead role of Annabelle following in Jodie Foster's footsteps from the film with the same name. This live action show included animals, gunfights, and even magic tricks with my character levitating at one point during the show. During my 5 years in this show I also had the privilege of working in other live shows both inside and outside of the park. I also had the pleasure of playing many fabulous characters while working for Theatrevision, an active local theatre company which was passionately run by a talented group of Thespians. I played a variety of juicey roles from Helen of Troy to Lady Gertrude Chiltern in an Ideal Husband. A major back injury during the show caused permanent damage to my back and so after 5 years in the show I left and moved to the United Kingdom to pursue my acting career overseas. While I was overseas my first acting job was travelling around the UK as the yellow power ranger for the Power Rangers in Space tour. This aired on a popular national morning television show and allowed fans all over England, Scotland, and Wales to meet and greet the power rangers after watching us perform our power ranger action show. During my time overseas I also worked as a children's entertainer for the cruiseship company P&O and spent a few months as a bar wench in a local pub to fill in the gaps. I turned down some other more exciting acting jobs which included a role that would have taken me to the mediteranean because I scored a large role in a movie and needed to stay in London for preparation and press. Unfortunately, the Director of this film was dodgy and after trying to change my surname to Sunset and then setting me up for an interview with an adult-only magazine, I fled London as fast as I could giving up on my dreams in the movie business when I finally understood what I was expected to do to pursue this path. The injury I sustained to my back previously was also not going away. The pain and suffering I continued to feel in my arms and back only seemed to get worse. After a couple of years of trying to continue my acting and action-based career, I realised I needed to find another vocation. |

Tour LeaderGetting through the selection process to be an international tour leader in a foreign country felt like a major feat. When this intrepid travel company asked me whether I would prefer to work in Egypt or South East Asia, it was a no-brainer. I'd spend long enough in Egypt already so I didn't feel the need to go there again and South East Asia was a lot closer to home if the job didn't work out.
My life as a tour leader was amazing. After the initial training, which included bush first aid survival training and following another tour leader around South-East Asia for a month, I basically spent my days leading small groups of people around the continent. Most tours were between 7 and 21 days long and included between 5 and 15 travellers. We had a set itinerary but I ran the day to day management of budgets and getting the travellers to and from their next destination. Most tours traversed 2 - 3 different countries so the agendas were always exciting and off-the-beaten path. The pay was minimal but you didn't need much. Most of my needs were covered and I had the pleasure of helping other people experience a spectacular part of the world for the first time. Six months in this job was long enough to get over my heartbreak and feel ready to get back to the real world so I could use the degree I'd just spent 2 years completing. In hindsight, I wish I'd stayed longer in this incredible role which was all about 'living in the now' every day. |
Communications and PRFor reasons of the heart, instead of moving back to my homeland of Australia, I moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. While I was living in this extraordinarily eye-opening country, I enjoyed my first public relations position with an exciting Luxury Travel and Goods Public Relations consultancy located in the vibrant Media City. This was a fun and fast introduction to the world of PR. While I. was thrown in the deep end, it helped me harness my communication skills even further. I had the pleasure of working with some of the best luxury resorts in the world, an exclusive supercar club, and represent large international media conferences.

Project Manager & TrainerI next secured a role working for a training and consulting company in Dubai who were looking for someone with a certain X factor. They wanted someone with project management and training experience. I only had the latter except for a stint working with the Intelligence Core in the Military back in Australia years earlier. After 3 weeks of an interviewing process similar to The Apprentice television show, I won the job and spent the following 2 years training and working as a qualified project management consultant and trainer. I had the privilege of working with a diverse variety of clients all over the U.A.E. Some of my clients included, the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Interior, Nestle, Dubai Government, Oil and Gas companies, airlines, banks, universities and many more.
Once I left Dubai to move back to my beloved Australia, I quickly picked up similar work continuing in my career as a project management consultant and trainer. I working with a national company which saw me travelling both nationally and internationally to client locations to provide consultancy services and to deliver training. This role was a busy one, but I loved being able to travel so much and work with such a range of interesting people, businesses, and diverse projects.. I honed my change management skills while in this job and in the end happily spent more time working in a change management capacity than in project management.. |
Organisational Change Manager & Trainer Once I started working as a change manager, I realised that all my previous work experience had led to this type of work. My lengthy experience as a trainer, my in-depth understanding and knowledge about communication, my planning skills as a project manager, and my natural intuitive and empathetic abilities to sense what people both feel and need, were a perfect combination for working successfully as a change manager. I became a certified change management practitioner and trainer and this allowed me to help many organisations, from small to large, effectively work through their transitions and transformations. I began as a consultant and trainer in change management and then progressed to work full-time as a contract change manager for many business, especially within the Government sector. I had the privilege of working for not-for-profits in areas of homelessness and disability, and for government projects about innovation, child protection, education and other important changes. After several years of contracting out as a change manager, I started my own change consulting business and went back to working as a consultant and trainer but for myself this time. This gave me greater freedom to create my own change programs and training workshops which I now continue to deliver to businesses looking to transform but without wanting to employee a full-time change manager.
I continue to work as a change manager, but a few years ago I wanted to make a more personal impact on people's lives so I also made my own personal transformation. Helping businesses transform successfully felt good, but I wanted to go further than helping people change within the business world. I wanted to help people make individual changes in their lives so they could find more lasting happiness and contentment in their personal world too. And then, someone introduced me to Human Design... |
Human Design Specialist & CoachWhen I learned that I was a Reflector, a unique Human Design type, my life suddenly made sense. I had a thirst for more information about this strange and yet seemingly all too familiar Human Design system so I took a few courses to learn more. My natural tendency to study and deep dive into subjects I'm interested in kept me coming back for more and more Human Design knowledge. Eventually, I realised that I needed to share this with the world. I studied and played with Human Design for a while, taking in as much as I could before trying to apply it as a coach.
I followed my passion for Human Design to the United States where I attend an important human design conference and realised that I'd finally found my tribe. These people had a similar life agenda to me. They also felt compelled to really understand their own mechanics and a desire to help others do the same. On my return from this conference, my confidence increased and my Human Design business took off. Human Design became a passionate endeavour and my change management work took a back seat while I coached, chatted to, and shared human design information with any client who wanted to explore their chart and understand themselves further. I started to attract other people who were also Reflectors to my business. Each of these people asked where they could find more information about our Reflector type because there isn't much specific information available. My life journey of trial and error had allowed me to naturally navigate my unique Reflector energy. My 40 plus years of experience living successfully in my Reflector shoes gave me perspective of where I went wrong and where the intricacies of my type were successfully harnessed. I felt compelled to share these learnings with other Reflectors who were feeling lost in their own Reflector journey and seeking some guidance on working with their unique energy type. Before I knew it, I was speaking about Reflectors at the International Human Design conference and then writing a book about Reflectors. Through sharing some of my own personal experiences about how I learned to navigate life successfully as a Reflector and the lessons I learned on the way, I hope my book provides some form of guidance and signposts for others to reflect on. So here I am today, using human design as the basis for my transformation program and drawing on my decade plus of change and transformation experience to help people become whatever it is they desire to be; to help people unleash themselves and find their own power within. |
